Skull Base Surgery for Brain Tumors
Dr. Byron Hontiveros is a board-certified neurosurgeon with a sub-specialty in Skull Base Surgery for brain tumors, particularly trained in Minimally-Invasvive, Keyhole, and Endoscopic Approaches to Neurosurgery.
He received his Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior at the University of California, Davis, and proceeded to acquire his Medical Degree from the University of Santo Tomas, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery. During his internship year in Cardinal Santos Medical Center, he was introduced to the field of neurosurgery first hand. He then went on to complete his General Neurosurgery residency training in Makati Medical Center, where he served as chief resident, serving East Avenue Medical Center Neurosurgery for a portion of his training.
Dr. Hontiveros pursued and achieved sub-specialty training in Pacific Neuroscience Institute, in Santa Monica, California for Minimimally-Invasive, Keyhole, and Endoscopic Approaches with Dr. Daniel Kelly and Dr. Garni Barkhoudarian. Currently (2025), he is engaging in further sub-specialized training for extended skull base approaches and brain tumor management in the USA, and is set to be back practicing in Makati Medical Center by mid-year of 2026.
